Cornwall in the 17th Century, A Study in Economic History

Cornwall in the 17th Century, A Study in Economic History

This classic work on the Cornish economy in the 17th century was first published in 1974 by Lodenek Press. It is an abridgement of James Whetter's brilliant thesis produced when at the London School of Economics for which he was awarded a Doctorate of Philosophy in 1965. The thesis is based on much original material, including Port Books at the Public Record Office and over 2,500 probate inventories at the Cornwall Record Office. It is a key work for anyone studying the period and reading about Cornish history in modern times. The book is written in clear and direct prose and  is well-illustrated with  reproductions of documents and contemporary prints and photos of buildings of the period. 2002,  20
